We believe it’s vital to have a strong network of support, training and development opportunities in place. We will support you every step of the way, so that you can support them.
Training
Online and face to face training runs throughout the year, in a number of locations across the East Midlands.
Local authorities offer training courses, support groups, and ongoing learning and development opportunities. Place to Call Home also offer additional training around looking after young refugees.
- Your local authority training will include being a foster carer, safeguarding, first aid and more.
- Our specific training will cover the asylum process, mental health and trauma and access to education.
Support
Support within any family is important. Our foster carers are supported by experienced professionals to support and guide them along their journey.
You’ll have access to 24 hour support and local authority staff (including social workers) available to foster carers throughout the working week. So you’ll get to speak to who you need, when you need to.
We understand that foster carers need and deserve access to the best support, training and resources in order to provide our young refugees with the best possible care.
Even if it’s early days and you’re just thinking about fostering, our team are here to answer your questions so please contact us or read more about how to become a foster carer.
